Poland faces the challenge of building a new energy system and an economy based on low-emission energy sources to meet national, European, and global climate goals. The role of hydrogen in the economy, particularly its potential for decarbonizing industry and transportation, is constantly growing. Creating a modern ecosystem that enables the development of a hydrogen economy value chain and integrates various economic sectors in this area requires the cooperation of numerous stakeholders.
GENESIS
As a result, on May 18, 2021, a letter of intent was signed regarding the establishment of the Podkarpacka Hydrogen Valley. The letter was signed by representatives of national and local public administration, Podkarpackie universities and research institutions, as well as numerous entities from the industry, entrepreneurship, and business sectors. On November 4, 2021, the Founding Meeting of the Podkarpacka Hydrogen Valley Association took place at the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Rzeszów University of Technology, attended by 11 founding members. The association was officially registered in the National Court Register on January 12, 2022. Association's goals
The goal of the Association is to support the development of the hydrogen economy and strive to establish a branch of the Podkarpackie hydrogen industry, including hydrogen production through electrolysis using energy generated from renewable energy installations, as well as its application in power generation, including heating, transportation, infrastructure, and industry.
Additionally, the Association’s objectives related to the hydrogen economy include, among others: creating a business and technological environment, supporting business activities, conducting scientific research, taking actions to create optimal conditions for conducting economic activities within the hydrogen economy, organizing and participating in dialogue between stakeholders interested in hydrogen economy initiatives, promoting environmental protection, enhancing the professional qualifications of members and entities supporting the Association’s activities, as well as developing educational programs.
